Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau and their Use during Piano Lessons

This thesis deals with the life and work of Johann Kuhnau and focuses mainly on the following categories: 1. The life and work of Johann Kuhnau 2. The work for keyboard musical instruments 3. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau 4. The use of his sonatas during piano lessons This thesis deals with a biography of Johann Kuhnau and presents his works for keyboard instruments. This is followed by a short chapter about a sonata form, its definition and progression. The third chapter is focuses on the sonatas by Johann Kuhnau, especially on his fourth collection named Biblical Sonatas which are presented here in the context of stories from the Old Testament. The final chapter focuses on the didactic and interpretive knowledge of Kuhnau's sonatas from his third and fourth collections for keyboard instruments. The aim of the work is to introduce Johann Kuhnau to reader, to point out his contribution in the field of music and to present the possibilities of working with his collections for keyboard instruments in teaching the piano at today's art schools. The Protestant Chant in Keyboard Literature from 1517 to 1685

The thesis deals with the literature for keyboard instruments from 1517 to 1685, based on protestant chant melodies. Vocal works are mentioned, i.e. both the monophonic protestant chant and it´s polyphonic settings, but instrumental works for keyboard instruments represent the main topic. In the thesis, brief biographies of the most important composers (E. N. Ammerbach, J. P. Sweelinck, S. Scheidt, D. Buxtehude, J. Pachelbel) are presented, with short analyses of their works.
Compositions for two organists

This thesis wants to capture the circumstances of creation of compositions for an initial period of two organists. It also wants to bring a summary of tracks for two players (both on one and on two instruments) as evidence of the interests of composers in this field, as well as some assistance for those wishing to those compositions. Thesis is divided into the following chapters: The first chapter gives a brief overview of the history of European music with respect to the period when at least sporadically appeared songs for two organists. The second chapter gives a brief insight into the history of the organ, their origin and evolution over the period music. Chapter three discusses the parallel development of other keyboard instruments, especially the piano and harpsichord, since a long time the musical literature for organ and these instruments are virtually identical. In the fourth chapter describes the development of chamber music and following the fifth chapter provides an overview of the development of four-handed play keyboards. Chapter Six brings a short treatise on the development works for two organists and seventh identifies specific problems in the actual interpretation. In the eighth chapter we follow compositional work of selected tracks and the ninth is of a similar nature. It is given to me the most important compositions for two players, six concerts P. Antonio Soler. The most important contribution of this work is the tenth chapter. It is the complete list of compositions organ duets.
